What do Girls Need to Participate in a Virtual Beauty Pageant?

Girls Just Need One Attribute!

That’s a very interesting question! And I receive calls like this regularly from young women, parents and prospective contestants asking, “What do Girls Need to Participate in a Virtual Pageant?.  My response is always the same, “Girls just need one Attribute” to compete in a well respected pageant system, and that is “just be you”.

The definition of “Beauty” in this blog is defined as ones “Outside Attribute”.  Moms, Dads, and interested advocates for young people. Our world is full of girls and young women who struggle with their body image, hair texture, face features, height, weight and levels of learning abilities. These girls would love to enhance their overall personal development skills by participating in a beauty pageant competition. They work very hard to qualify, but many pageant criteria and rules for many of them are too high.

Parents, If you speak with a pageant owner, director of a pageant, or a pageant coordinator who tells you, “I really like your daughter, but she is just not pretty enough to compete in this pageant”. “RUN”!  Run as fast as you can away from these type of pageants who base their winners solely on outside looks.

When girls tell me these type of experiences, I make it my business to speak directly with their parent(s). I am a mom of five daughters, and have been a pageant owner, and in the pageant industry for 19 years, I still could not define “beauty” by looking at the girls themselves. It’s her overall personality and demeanor that defines her beauty to me.

Pageants are to help girls and young women build their confidence and esteem. They do not compete with other candidates. They are judged on their own merit. Girls should never be told by anyone they are not beautiful enough to be accepted in their pageant competition.

I have told many girls in my pageant to work on her confidence in speaking in public, because that is one of our pageant requirements. Each girl will introduce herself to the judges, and speak for about 30 seconds about on her future life goals. We also provide a class that prepares the girls for these task. Our goal is to prepare girls for future success.

A good Pageant owner will focus more on what the pageant can do for the contestant, and encourage girls to give their pageant an opportunity to serve them.  Our Judges are trained to judge the girl’s character, personality, inside and outside image, confidence, personality and public presence. This allows each girl to be judged on her own abilities, and not the ability, or lack of ability of someone else.

The goal should always be to enhance the beauty and esteem in every girl to be the best that she can be. Confidence does not begin on the outside. It is an inside characteristic that girls need today – they are not born with it.

When pageants focus on a girl’s outside beauty and characteristics only, girls have a tendency to be more revealing in the way she dresses, and also may wear lots of makeup to cover any blemishes or imperfections on her face. Girls feel her looks defines her. But inside, she is hurting and empty.

For this reason, I have began my first Virtual Pageant to reach girls around the world in hopes of enhancing her inner beauty and potential.  The pageant will be outlined in the same manner as a local pageant.  Girls will compete by video taping each category.  This way, girls will not see the other girls in the competition. I am reaching out to moms and dads and interested advocates for youth to support me in this endeavor.  Encourage girls from across the states to be a participant.

It was amazing to see the number of girls in my pageant success class explain why they wanted to compete in our pageant. The reason was to enhance her personal development skills and confidence.  When girls are true to themselves, they will do wonderful things in their pageant experience.  In most instances, they will walk away wearing the CROWN.

Pageants are a wonderful experience for young girls and women. It has in many cases, lost it’s true purpose. I would recommend it to EVERY girl who aspires to compete for the right reasons

Take the Time to Teach

Have you heard this statement? “Give a Man a Fish, and it will feed him for a day. Teach him how to Fish, and it will Feed him for a Lifetime”.

This is a true statement, in that when we take the extra time to teach someone what we know, instead of telling them what we know. We are equipping them with a lifetime learning tool.  One that not only can they use over and over again, but one that they can passed on, or pass down to the next generation.

Take the time to teach your children how to read, instead of reading to them.  This does not mean, not reading to our children from birth through the toddler years, but it does mean by school age you may want to read the story to your child first, then sitting back and allowing them to read it back to you.

Children are more inclined to live by the example of their parents or teacher.  So be careful!  Show a person who may be lost how to get back on track, instead of telling them how it feels to be back on track. How often have we stopped along the highway, and asked someone for directions to get us back on track, and immediately after we drove off, we found ourselves lost again, and drove around and around in circles, until we stopped again and asked another person for directions.

This second person, says, “wait a moment, I will drive you to that exit, because it can be a bit tricky”.  So they do just that.  How did that make you feel?   You will find yourself, forever grateful for the kindness this person exhibited in taking the time to drive the distance with you while you were lost, and stayed with you to get you back on track.

That experience will stay with you in later years.  And guess what?  You are forever grateful, and you find yourself often doing the same act of kindness to others without any thought.

At the age of sixteen, I was able to learn this lesson, and it has been edged in my memory what that statement truly mean. I was only 16 years old, and a junior in high school, but the lesson remain ever-present today.  I was able to earn high school credits by working a job.  I was assigned a great mentor who was trained to teach potential students good work ethics.

I continue to exercise those skills today that was learned at the age of sixteen. This program was a “Co-op” Program, that allowed high school students with average or above GPA’s to leave school, and go to work and still earn graduation credits. I don’t know if this program is still available today for students, but it was a positive program for many high school student year ago.

This message I continue to share with my blog audience. The message is to share and teach what you have learned.  Pass it on to someone you feel will benefit from it in a positive way.  

Many years have passed since that time back in high school. But, I still carry that same message with me.  Today I teach, train and inspire other women and men to seek purpose and value in their lives by owning their own home base business. There is no better time than now to begin doing what you absolutely love. Home based business allows you more time for family, friends and personal relationships.

Take time to TEACH others, your past skills are valuable.  Many women and men across america would love to join you in making their dreams a reality.

How To Make Money Supervising Yourself?

Woman looking in a mirrorLadies, Gentlemen, I am talking to the “Choir” today.  Ask yourself, “How can I make money supervising myself?” “Then ask yourself,  “Would I prefer to Supervise Myself, or Supervise Someone else?”.  If you gave this some serious thought, you will find that this is not a difficult question to answer.  Do you think you are a fair person?  Are you a truthful person?  Do you put value in Yourself?  Well, this may surprise you, but to be successful at having your own home based business and you being your boss, you need to always think from the perspective that you serve others, the way or even better than you serve yourself.
So Ladies, making money supervising yourself is a great way for me to introduce you to becoming your own boss. This is a great opportunity for you to prove to yourself your great skills in working your business from home. Yes, I am assigning you as supervisor of your own business.  Now, look in the mirror and congratulate yourself. You have earned it!
When you are your own boss, you become your own supervisor, and the title entrepreneur.  No one is there to look over your shoulder, no one is there to remind you to clock in your time, evaluate your work, or approve your vacation time. The biggest challenge you will face is how to build great relationships with my clients. Are you ready to begin setting some fun and reasonable goals for yourself?  Working from home can be so rewarding in many ways.  However, to be a good supervisor, you must know how to discipline yourself.  So, when setting goals for yourself you will need to follow them.
Lesson One.  Let’s get started! Get up in the morning, shower, put on some great makeup and glamour, wear a nice comfortable suit, preferably Red. Blue if you are a guy.  Remember, you are working from home today. You don’t have to worry about the weather.  If you don’t have an office set up yet, we will share in our next Blog how to get one set up in one day. 
Brush your teeth, and spray a hint of perfume or use cologne if you are a guy. The rule of business will be the same.  Now, get yourself a nice healthy breakfast.  Eat what your heart desires, because after all, you are the Boss!  Bosses are known to feel better when they eat what they want to eat.  So, for now, do that.  If you want to eat a danish, go ahead, the only thing I would suggest, is that you cut it in half, and eat the other half tomorrow or the next day. I would also encourage you to eat some yogurt and a apple. If you feel full, you can stop with that for breakfast.  This will help you start your day out with a healthy mindset. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water.
Now, let’s get to work on our first day being the best Boss ever!  You will follow this same pattern all week.   Ask yourself as you look at YOU in the mirror, what is it that I aspire to do with my life?  What things do I enjoy doing?  Believe in yourself that you can do anything you desire to do.  Your looks, and your age is not a factor.  It’s your determination! 
As you ponder with these great ideas and desires, begin writing them down.  Write this down in your weekly planner and organizer.  Oh, did we forget? We must write everything down in our planner and organizer?  Don’t rush, you have time to do this.  This is because you are in your beginning stage of your business success, and we need to make ourselves accountable.  Accountable to who? YOU!  Now that we have a planner and organizer in place, keep it close at hand, you will need it often.

How To Be Your Own Boss on Day 1

Life is full of wonderful surprises, and one of them for me was realizing that I could actually be my on own Boss on day ONE!  Folks, I will tell you that I had that same stigma that society puts on all of us, that you must be “rich” or you must own your own home, or maybe even you must drive a certain car to be your own Boss.  I come here to tell you that is not the truth.  Yes, having all those things are great when you are a business owner. However, it does not define you as a successful person.

Many times what it does say especially when you wake up in the middle of the night “terrified” that you are in over your head in debt.  Now, that does not have to be the case.  You can own all those things, and be debt free of them.  I am here today to tell you that if you want to be your own Boss, and work from home, and own your own business, YOU CAN DO THAT. You can do that with just a working computer.

If someone would have told me 20 years ago, when I first started my own business,  “Annie you can own your own business simply by investing in a computer, or renting one, you just need to put your mind to it, and focus on what will work for you”. I would have said, “there must be a catch”, so I am assuming that you are saying the same thing.  I will lay out a plan for you, I will also show you everything you need to know to get your business up and running, and the cost it will take to get you there.

But First, let’s talk about the number one reason why people are hesitant in moving forward to owning their own home based business.  That Number #1 reason, is our “Fear” of failure.  Now, let me reverse that and tell you the number two reason, is the fear of “success”.  Can you believe that?  Can you believe people have a fear of success?  Well, let me tell you Yes!  And it is common.  It is sometime called, “Fear of Change”. Why is that?  One reason may be that when we change one thing in our lives, automatically other things will change, some without us every realizing it.

One being, we fear that we will lose friendships.  Well, if you do lose a few of our friends, that is a good thing, because you never had them in the first place. People, who will not accept you for your success choices in life, are not true friends.  The reason for our hesitance to owning our own business are all intertwined with many things like the one just mentioned.  I will cover other reasons for our hesitant to owning a home based business in my upcoming blog post, so, stay tuned.  I want to help you live out your dream by facing these challenges one-by-one. So, in each one of my blogs, I will give you some pros and a cons to your resistance to owning your own business.

Well, many people cannot imagine not living from paycheck-to-paycheck, and it frightens them if they woke up one morning and found “plentiful”.  They would not know what to do with that. You have seen it, you have heard it, you have read it in the newspaper about lottery winners overnight riches. For today it’s good for them, tomorrow, it becomes a disaster, it become their enemy.  Why? because people need to learn how to understand what true success is all about, and how to make it work for them.  It starts with making good choices.

So, how do you make good choices? You are making a good choice to “own” something for yourself.  You are making a good choice to want better for yourself, and leave a legacy to your children, you are making good choice when you do what you absolutely love doing.  You are making good choices when you own your own home, and can afford the monthly payments. And lastly, you are making good choices when you decide to live out your dreams, instead of just dreaming about them.  Today is a great day, to make good choices.  I am here to help you begin step number one.
